Fly camping is overnight from The Little Safari Camp, under a mosquito net, with the stars sparkling down on you, and an armed ranger close by! It is a magical experience, and something which should not be missed. The term “fly camping” is inspired by the old-school safaris explorers would go out for days and sleep under a simple “fly sheet” protecting them from the sun and rain.
Fly camping today is much fancier and undeniably comfortable, but it maintains that incredible feeling of timeless adventure and camaraderie, especially after an exhilarating day of walking.
Fly camping in Mlawula Nature reserve and The Lubombo conservancy at large are next to none. With an incredible biodiversity and geography that gives every fly camping night its unique touch. Once in the bush you will be shown how to decipher, smell and hear different tracks, types of dung, melodious harmonies, shrill trills, chaotic screeches or soft purrs and be able to identify them. Get up close and personal with herds of majestic African Elephants, as your heart stops you will be really in awe of their gentleness and grandness.
